Fitness Training – A Heart Healthy Life Style

Physical fitness is an inclusive term that includes many components that directly affect the body. It is important to achieve and maintain the best level of fitness throughout one’s life. Fitness is important because it helps to ensure that the body stays in good condition and is able to function properly. It also helps to reduce the risk of various diseases and illnesses, such as cancer. One’s level of fitness can decline as a result of aging or other factors, but even people who feel fit can fall victim to the elements, such as heat, wind, rain, snow, and sun. In order to stay healthy and avoid these common inconveniences, it is important to ensure that one is practicing a regular regimen of fitness activities.

When it comes to fitness, there are several components that combine to determine a person’s overall health and physical condition. These components include body composition, which refers to the ratio of weight to height, muscle mass, bone density, and the amount of water within the body. Muscle mass is defined as the tissue that surrounds the bones in a person’s frame. Body composition is calculated through a mathematical equation that takes an inventory of a person’s weight, height, sex, and body type. The formula determines a person’s average muscle mass, which is expressed as a percentage of one’s total body weight.

Another component of fitness is physical strength endurance, which gauges a person’s ability to tolerate stress and withstand impact. There are two components involved in physical strength endurance: muscular endurance and functional capacity. Muscular endurance measures the amount of energy that a person can expend during physical activity and is measured through the maximum weight that can be lifted in a single repetition or maximum number of repetitions performed on a particular lift.

A major component of fitness involves cardiovascular fitness, which assesses how well a person uses oxygen during physical activity and produces energy. Another component of fitness training is flexibility, which measures a person’s ability to move his or her body in various movements without breaking them. Flexibility is determined by using the stretch reflex test, a test of leg extension and flexion strength, where a rubber band is wrapped around the thigh. When the band is stretched, the knee extends beyond its normal position, allowing the knee to rotate fully, straightening the leg at full stretch.

A well-balanced and active lifestyle is an important factor in achieving overall physical well-being. For this reason, exercise is recommended to keep a fit and healthy body. Exercise is a proven preventive measure against heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, and other health complications. Regular exercise reduces the chances of developing a stress fracture, a common injury that occurs when the bones get brittle due to excessive wear and tear. And, if you do get a stress fracture, regular exercise can greatly reduce the duration and recurrence of the injury.

The benefits of regular exercise extend beyond weight loss, increased muscle mass, improved immunity, and increased endurance. Exercise helps maintain a healthy balance of hormones, including cortisol, the stress hormone, and testosterone, the male sex hormone. And, a well-balanced hormonal and metabolic environment is crucial for optimal overall health.
